In another study the total number of eosinophils per uterus was determined for the purpose of estimating uterine eosinophil peroxidase content. The uteri removed from hormone-treated animals were separated into two uterine horns and peroxidase activity was biochemically assayed in one uterine horn as described above. The remaining horn was fixed for at least 24 h in 10% neutral buffered formalin. The fixed length of the horn was measured before dividing the horn into three approximately equal pieces along its length. Each piece was processed, paraffin-embedded, sectioned, and stained with orcein as above. Eosinophils were counted in 20 nonadjacent sections distributed among the three uterine portions. For the most part, no differences were noted in the eosinophi! content of different portions of the same uterine horn. When such differences did exist, however, there tended to be more eosinophils toward the cervical end of the uterus and fewer toward the oviductal end. In such cases, however, sections from the middle portion of the uterus still gave a good approximation of the mean eosinophil content. The uterine eosinophil peroxidase content was calculated by multiplying the total uterine eosinophil content, calculated according to Tchernitchin et al. 1976 ; , by the empirically derived value for eosinophil peroxidase content see below ; . The additional parkland and facilities required will be directly associated with the level of new development and associated residents expected in Redwood City. As a mature City, the opportunities for future development include redevelopment, infill development, and a small number of other development opportunities. As a result, the level of future development is less certain than for cities with large tracts of vacant land. A series of estimates and assumptions have been made, based on information provided by City staff, to assess potential future growth in the City through the year 2020. Table 1 shows an estimate of future development by type as well as an estimate of the associated additional City residents. As shown, a total of 3, 682 new units as well as additions resulting in about 630 new bedrooms are estimated. This projection results in an additional 9, 434 residents in the City, assuming a 3 percent vacancy rate.4 Key assumptions are described below. Downtown Area Plan. Based on development discussed in the Downtown Area Plan5 and on input from City staff, residential development in the downtown area is estimated to total about 2, 000 new units through 2020. Each unit is expected to house 2.6 persons, which the Area Plan notes is based on Association of Bay Area Governments ABAG ; projections. The precise type of development is uncertain, though the density proposed for the area suggests multifamily developments including either condominiums or apartments. Market conditions and City policies at the time of construction will influence whether the units will be rental or forsale tenure. For the purposes of this fee estimate, it is assumed that the 2, 000 units will be split equally between apartments and condominiums. Development east of Highway 101, along City shores. Proposals for residential development of the area east of Highway 101 along the Bay suggest that the area could include about 796 total units. The mix of units is undetermined at this time.

At this point you are free once again to leave the main itinerary and set off on one of those delightful little byways for which the Cte Chalonnaise is noted: a little country road lined with low drystone walls and punctuated with wayside crosses, communal ovens and beautifully preserved little churches and traditional houses. A paradise for walkers! This little back road takes you to Bouzeron, famous for the quality of its Aligot wines as you enter the village, a sign proudly announces "A little village, a great wine" ; . Then you come to Chassey-le-Camp, celebrated for its archaeological site from which the term chassen, denoting a particular Neolithic civilisation, is derived ; . We come back to the "main road" at the hilltop village of Aluze, where the houses seem to huddle for protection around the church, between Rully and Mercurey. We now penetrate a more bourgeois part of the Cte Chalonnaise where wine is the source of both its reputation and its wealth. Premiers crus follow in quick succession and a host of wine properties beckon you to their cool cellars or summon you to taste their wines in the sublime setting of venerable mansions, some of which are veritable little chteaux! Any list of fine wines must include the name of Rully, a large village which is equally at home in producing red, white and Crmant wines. Rully boasts one of the best preserved chteaux in the Cte Chalonnaise, the.

| Prior work by one of us W.W., Nuc-Medii: 1-7, 1982 ; had documented that human studies of fluorine-18-labeled 5FU revealed differences in the biodistribution of this drug from individual to individual, specially in the early phase. It had also been documented J.R.G., Br JCancer 50: 112-117, 1984 ; that in vivo nuclear magnetic resonance NMR ; studies in mice allowed the detection of both 5-FU and several of its metabolites in the liver and in tumor tissue. The current studies are aimed at helping to continue evaluating the degree of responsiveness of selected tumors to 5-FU treatment, by monitoring whether individual variations in drug metabolism may allow for the recognition of responders. The key question then is: can fluorine-19 "F ; NMR be performed in humans, and what might be the optimal conditions for doing so? Studies conducted in BDF-mice bearing the L-1210 Lymphocytic leukemia tumor at 1.89 T confirmed that the fluorinated products present in the liver consist mostly of the drug's catabolites. Phantom studies have been conducted at fields as low as 0.37 T. where 5-FU & selected catabolites could be readily detected at 1.5 m.M concentrations. Optimization of appropriate surface coils and pulse sequences are currently in progress, so that further studies can help assess the relative clinical potential of I9F NMR when measuring the in vivo metabolism of 5-FU in humans.

183 responsibilities in ways that can reduce transportation logistics costs might involve properly accounting for freight related benefits from a system perspective, in project evaluation; properly pricing of infrastructure, since clearly public provision of infrastructure does not imply a subsidy, even though that is a trap of thinking that sometimes people fall into. Also the public sector needs to acknowledge risks involved which are not always explicit, or even implicit in project evaluations, and in public decision making: how infrastructure can be made obsolete by changes in technology and shifts in trade. The next bullet is a laundry list of regulatory issues. Continued domestic and international economic deregulation and liberalization. Again, these are a list of issues that I heard at the conference, and some are paraphrases of statements of speakers, rather than my own expressions of my own opinion. Don't protect national flag carriers, privatize railroads, liberalize telecom, recognizing that telecom is an essential component of logistics. Deregulate ocean shipping, don't subsidize the postal service because it competes with private express services. Move away from bilateral agreements as a form of international air transport regulation, open cabotage markets, eliminate barriers to third party service provision. That is a point that I don't fully understand myself, but the issue of the absence of well developed third party services in many parts of the world, not only the less developed countries, has been mentioned several times here, and seems to be a significant issue. Presumably, at least some of the reasons why those services do not exist are regulatory in nature. I might add to this list regulatory constraints on the labor pool, which was mentioned in the session on human resources. Next on my list, and I only have one more viewgraph after this, reorganize government transportation administration at the administrative level, and in the United States it has been suggested at the level of the legislature, as well. In some cases, at least, compensate the losers of government stimulated adjustments. This refers, for example, to labor contract buyouts. Equipment issues, "harmonize" domestic, regional and international equipment, design standards and practices. I put harmonize in quotation marks, because it is clear that no one is quite sure what this means. Certainly in the United States this means, above all else truck size and weight and there is a real question of optimizing. It is an optimization problem, optimizing truck size and weight with respect to the other elements of the transportation system; the roadway, the other vehicles that use the system and so forth, as well as in the international perspective the practices in ordering countries, and globally, with respect to containers. Accept limited government responsibilities with respect to information technology. I mentioned some of these points before. Catch up with the private sector in, for example, electronic elimination of paperwork by use of information technology. Reduce regulatory obstacles to low earth-orbiting networks. That is another specific item from one of our presenters. Be a participant in multi-party voluntary discussions of interoperability issues. This is a way of awarding mention of standards. Container trucking was the example that one of our speakers mentioned and sanctura.
